The Miracles of the Namiya General Store: A Time-Traveling Korean Drama Coming to Disney+ in 2027

Disney+ has recently announced the start of principal photography for The Miracles of the Namiya General Store, a Korean-language series based on a bestselling novel by Japanese author Keigo Higashino. The story follows three petty criminals who seek refuge in an abandoned general store and receive letters from strangers in the past, sparking a chain of connections across time. The series is set to premiere globally on Disney+ in 2027.
Ryu Seung-ryong will lead the cast as Go Min-joong, the elderly shop owner who responds to the mysterious letters. The young thieves will be portrayed by Kang You-seok, Park Jung-woo, and Kim Seong-jeong, with a supporting ensemble featuring popular Korean drama actors like Kim Hye-yoon, Moon Sang-min, and Lee Chae-min. The series is directed and written by Park Young-ju, known for the true-crime hit Citizen of a Kind.
Disney+ is ramping up its K-drama offerings to compete with Netflix, with a lineup that includes Made in Korea, Perfect Crown, Gold Land, Portraits of Delusion, The Remarried Empress, and A Shop for Killers. The streaming service also announced plans for a Korean remake of The Americans and an expanded esports streaming partnership. The Miracles of the Namiya General Store adds to Disney+'s growing slate of original content from East Asia, showcasing the platform's commitment to diverse and compelling storytelling.
