Thermos Recall Alert: Safety Concern for Stainless King Food Jars and Sportsman Bottles

Thermos is issuing a recall for approximately 8.1 million Stainless King Food Jars and Sportsman Food & Beverage Bottles due to a safety concern. The affected products include Stainless King models SK3000 (16-oz) and SK3020 (24-oz) made before July 2023, as well as all Sportsman model SK3010 (40-oz) Food & Beverage Bottles. These containers do not have a pressure relief feature in the stopper, which can lead to the stopper forcefully ejecting when opened, potentially causing serious injuries like impact and lacerations.
Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled containers immediately. To receive a free replacement, owners of the SK3000 and SK3020 Food Jars should dispose of the old stopper and send a photo of it to Thermos. Owners of the SK3010 Bottles will be provided with a prepaid shipping label to return the product. These items were sold nationwide at various retailers, including Target, Walmart, Amazon, and Thermos.com, from approximately March 2008 to July 2024, priced around $30.
Thermos has received 27 reports of stoppers ejecting forcefully, resulting in injuries that required medical attention, including cases of impact and lacerations. Three individuals experienced permanent vision loss after being hit in the eye. The affected products bear the Thermos logo on the side, with model numbers located on the bottom. For further details or to arrange a replacement, visit Thermos' website or call their customer service line at 662-563-6822 (Monday–Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. CT).
