Hosting Panama's Men's FIFA World Cup Team: Nottawasaga Resort & Conference Centre Prepares for Soccer Excellence

Nottawasaga Resort & Conference Centre, located along Highway 89 north of Toronto, is undergoing construction to prepare for hosting Panama's men's FIFA World Cup team. This marks the first time since 1994 that the resort will serve as a base camp for a World Cup team. The resort's director of sales, Sylvia Biffis, expressed excitement about welcoming the world-class team and highlighted the convenience of having the team's accommodation and training facilities in one location.
The construction of the soccer field at Nottawasaga Resort & Conference Centre has been a meticulous process to meet FIFA standards. The field has been designed to replicate the fields featured in the tournament, ensuring that every detail is in line with the requirements. The resort's vice president, Dino Biffis, emphasized the extensive preparation involved in transforming the field to meet FIFA's criteria, including installing underground drainage and updating the sprinkler system.
The field at Nottawasaga Resort & Conference Centre has been endorsed by FIFA and features a unique blend of Kentucky bluegrass from Green Horizons, consistent with soccer fields across North America. The resort has a strong connection to soccer, having hosted Team Germany in 1994 and various national and tier one teams over the years. The Biffis family, who own the resort, has a personal connection to the field, as it was once used for growing and selling sod.
The upcoming arrival of Panama's team at Nottawasaga Resort & Conference Centre in early June signifies a significant moment for the resort and the Biffis family. The team will begin preparations for their World Cup matches, with their first game scheduled against Ghana in Toronto on June 19th. The resort is proud to be a part of this historic event and looks forward to hosting Panama as their official base camp during the tournament.
