Noncitizens Charged with Illegal Voting and False Citizenship Claims in Federal Elections

Four noncitizens have been accused of illegally participating in multiple federal elections and providing false information while applying for U.S. citizenship, as per federal prosecutors' announcement on Friday. The criminal complaints filed in New Jersey revealed that each defendant allegedly voted in at least one federal election, including the 2020 and 2024 presidential elections.
FBI Director Kash Patel highlighted that four individuals, who are noncitizens, have been charged with illegally voting in federal elections and providing false information while applying for U.S. citizenship. The accused individuals participated in elections such as the 2020 Presidential election, 2022 midterms, and 2024 Presidential election cycles.
The defendants, identified as David Neewilly, Jacenth Beadle Exum, Idan Choresh, and Abhinandan Vig, are accused of registering to vote in New Jersey despite not being U.S. citizens and falsely certifying their citizenship status on voter registration forms. The administration emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards aliens attempting to vote in elections when they are ineligible.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that the Justice Department will utilize all available resources to safeguard the integrity of U.S. elections. The accused individuals allegedly lied on their naturalization applications by claiming they had never registered or voted in federal elections.
U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer emphasized the commitment to protecting the election system's integrity and holding accountable those who try to circumvent voting laws and the naturalization process. The charges against the defendants reflect the office's dedication to upholding the integrity of the election system.
Neewilly, Choresh, Vig, and Beadle Exum faced charges related to voting by an alien in a federal election, making false statements regarding naturalization, and unlawful procurement of citizenship. They appeared before U.S. magistrate judges in Camden and Newark federal court.
The Justice Department and FBI have been contacted for further comments on the matter. The allegations against the defendants underscore the importance of upholding the integrity of the election process and ensuring accountability for those who attempt to manipulate voting laws and naturalization procedures.
