Northeastern University Dining Hall Incident: A Level 2 Sex Offender's Arrest and Charges

A Level 2 sex offender, Brandon Awogboro, was apprehended for trespassing and assaulting police officers in a women's bathroom stall at a Northeastern University dining hall. Awogboro, 29, faced charges of assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. During his arraignment in Boston Municipal Court, bail was set at $500, and he was instructed to stay away from the victim and the university. Additionally, his bail on a previous assault and battery charge was revoked, and he was ordered to wear a GPS monitor.
The incident unfolded when Northeastern University police responded to an alarm at the Stetson East Residence Hall dining area. Awogboro triggered the alarm while leaving through an emergency door after being spotted in the women's bathroom for an extended period. Surveillance footage captured him leaving the restroom and fleeing onto Huntington Avenue. When confronted by police, Awogboro allegedly became combative, attempting to bite an officer and reaching for their holstered gun. Despite the struggle, he was eventually subdued and found to have trespassed on the campus previously.
Awogboro's criminal history includes a 2024 breaking-and-entering and assault-and-battery case for which he served time at the Suffolk County House of Correction. Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden commended the officers and the dining hall employee for their swift actions in addressing the situation. The employee's courage in reporting Awogboro's inappropriate behavior in a private setting was acknowledged, emphasizing the importance of maintaining safety and privacy in such environments. The defendant is scheduled for a pretrial hearing on May 26.
