Peter Gabriel's New Single 'Won't Stand Down' from Album 'O\\I': A Call to Activism and Empowerment

Peter Gabriel has released a new single titled ‘Won’t Stand Down’ from his upcoming album ‘O\\I’. The album, which will be his 11th studio release, follows his previous album ‘I/O’. Each song on the album will have both “Bright-Side” and “Dark-Side” mixes, with singles being released monthly to coincide with the full moon and new moon cycles. Previous singles include ‘Been Undone’, ‘Put the Bucket Down’, ‘What Lies Ahead’, and ‘Till Your Mind Is Shining’.
‘Won’t Stand Down’ is an uplifting and empowering track that aims to inspire activism. Gabriel expressed his desire to encourage positive change in the world and promote values of justice, compassion, and democracy. The song features a euphoric chorus and draws inspiration from Marvin Gaye’s ‘Sexual Healing’ for its energy and movement.
The artwork for the single, titled ‘Faith’, was created by Shirin Neshat, known for her powerful and political work. Gabriel highlighted the need for humanity to find peaceful solutions to conflicts rather than resorting to violence. The “Dark-Side Mix” of the song will be released later in the month, with more details about the album release to follow.
In addition to his music, Gabriel recently expressed gratitude to director Josh Safdie for including his song ‘I Have The Touch’ in the film Marty Supreme, featuring Timothée Chalamet. Gabriel continues to use his music to convey messages of hope and positivity, aiming to inspire listeners to make a difference in the world.
