Unveiling the Shadows: The Gilgo Beach Murders Scripted Series
Peacock is working on a new scripted true crime series based on the Gilgo Beach murders. The show will be written and executive produced by Jordan Hawley, with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson serving as an executive producer under his G-Unit Films and Television banner. The series is inspired by the Peacock docuseries “The Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets,” also executive produced by Jackson.
The official description of the show reveals that it will delve into the story of the Long Island serial killer who operated in the shadows of suburbia for three decades. Detectives eventually cracked the case, revealing the killer's true identity as a sadistic murderer, forcing his family to confront the shocking truth.
The Gilgo Beach murders involved the discovery of 10 sets of human remains near Gilgo Beach in Long Island between 2010 and 2011. Rex Heuermann was arrested in connection with seven of the murders and later admitted to an eighth. He recently pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing in June 2026.
Jordan Hawley, known for his work on shows like “Sex/Life,” “UnReal,” and “A Million Little Things,” will be leading the writing and production of the series. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, in addition to his involvement in the docuseries, is also working on other projects, including a series adaptation of his novel “The Accomplice” with Taraji P. Henson.
Jackson is a prolific producer, known for his work on the “Power” franchise on Starz, which includes “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” and “Power Book IV: Force.” He is also involved in the upcoming Starz boxing drama “Fightland” and will appear in the upcoming “Street Fighter” movie as Balrog.
