Bernie Kosar's Hospital Journey: Updates on Former Browns Quarterback's Health

Bernie Kosar recently shared a video on Facebook announcing that he is back in the hospital for another medical procedure. The former Cleveland Browns quarterback did not specify the nature of the procedure but expressed his determination to have a winning day after it. This hospital visit follows his liver transplant in November 2025, which has been accompanied by various complications and multiple readmissions to University Hospitals. Kosar's health struggles have included E. coli blood poisoning, infections, and a minor rejection of the transplanted liver.
Leading up to his transplant surgery, Kosar's doctor described his condition as extremely critical, with life-threatening bleeding complications that required multiple interventions. Despite the challenges, Kosar was discharged one week after the transplant and later made a generous donation to the family of his organ donor, 21-year-old Bryce Dunlap. Following his initial discharge, Kosar was readmitted to the hospital on Nov. 30 but was discharged again on Dec. 2, expressing gratitude and readiness to face the day with a positive outlook.
