Kenny Chesney, born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on March 26, 1968, grew up in Luttrell with his parents, David and Karen. His parents divorced when he was young, and he moved with his mother and sister to Knoxville. Chesney excelled in sports, particularly football, during high school, which instilled a strong work ethic in him. Despite never considering a career in music, he received a guitar from his mother after graduating high school, sparking his interest in songwriting and performing.

After teaching himself to play the guitar, Chesney pursued music as a passion while attending East Tennessee State University. He joined the ETSU Bluegrass Program and performed at local venues in Johnson City. Following his college graduation in 1990, Chesney moved to Nashville to pursue a career in music. He spent years performing in bars and clubs, often playing long sets for tips to support himself. Despite facing setbacks, including a failed record deal, Chesney persevered and continued to pursue his dream.

In 1994, Chesney signed his first record deal, marking the beginning of his successful music career. Despite early challenges, he built a loyal fan base known as No Shoes Nation and achieved numerous No. 1 hits on the Country Airplay chart.
