Former NFL Player Stefon Diggs Faces Trial for Assaulting Private Chef: Jury Selection Begins

Jury selection is set to commence on Monday for the trial of Stefon Diggs, a former New England Patriots player accused of assaulting his private chef at his residence in Dedham, Massachusetts, last year. Diggs is charged with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery, to which he has pleaded not guilty. The incident allegedly occurred on December 2 at Diggs' home during a dispute over payment, where the chef claimed Diggs hit and choked her. Court documents state that Diggs attempted to strangle the victim using his elbow, causing her difficulty in breathing. The woman reported feeling like she could have blacked out as Diggs tightened his grip and threw her onto the bed, making a remark before doing so. While the woman had redness on her chest, no photographic evidence was taken. Prosecutors intend to call the chef and a police officer as witnesses, while the defense plans to call individuals present in the house during the alleged assault. The duration of jury selection remains uncertain.
