Inner Light: Floyd Nation's Tribute to Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here

Floyd Nation has recently released their latest single, "Watching The Sunrise," and announced the upcoming release of their debut album, Inner Light, scheduled for May 29. This Pink Floyd tribute band from the US recorded their music at Abbey Road Studios, the same iconic location where Pink Floyd recorded Wish You Were Here fifty years ago. Inner Light features a reimagined version of Wish You Were Here along with three original songs, with "Watching The Sunrise" serving as the closing track.
The band's saxophonist, John Conrath, described "Watching The Sunrise" as a song that symbolizes the return of light and healing after a period of darkness. Lead guitarist and vocalist Brendon McDonnell explained that the new songs on the album offer a different perspective compared to the themes of absence and longing present in Wish You Were Here. "Watching the Sunrise" represents hope and the realization of inner light that was always present.
Inner Light consists of 10 tracks, including previously released singles "Have A Cigar" and "Welcome to the Machine." The band meticulously recreated the vintage sound of Pink Floyd by using equipment from the 1970s. Comprising nine talented musicians, Floyd Nation formed in 2021 and dedicated a year to perfecting their live performances, which have garnered sold-out shows across North America.
The band's Wish We Were There tour featured elaborate light and laser displays tailored specifically for their performances, creating an immersive experience for audiences. Inner Light pays homage to Syd Barrett while expanding on the narrative of the original album, blending the new songs seamlessly with the classic material to offer a fresh perspective on the iconic record.
