Swift Rescue Mission: Hiker Saved from Blue Pool Area in Linn County

A 53-year-old hiker was rescued from the Blue Pool area in Linn County after sustaining a severe knee injury on rugged terrain. The Linn County Sheriff's Office received the distress call around noon on Sunday, prompting a swift response from Linn County Search and Rescue teams. Due to the challenging access to the remote hiking location, a technical rope rescue operation was initiated.
Collaborating with multiple agencies, including the Upper McKenzie Rural Fire District, Lane County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, and Eugene Mountain Rescue, the rescue mission was underway. To enhance the operation, rescue coordinators coordinated with the Oregon Department of Emergency Management to secure air support from the U.S. Coast Guard. A Coast Guard helicopter executed a successful hoist rescue after the SAR team stabilized and prepared the injured hiker for transport.
Following the rescue, the woman was airlifted to a nearby airfield and subsequently transferred by the Sweet Home Fire District to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend for medical treatment. The coordinated efforts of the various agencies involved in the operation ensured the safe and timely rescue of the hiker in distress.
