Arrested Memory: A Detective Comedy Film by Sabu Acquired by Lucky Number

Lucky Number, a Paris-based sales outfit, has acquired the international rights to the detective comedy film Arrested Memory, directed by Japanese filmmaker Sabu. The movie stars Taiwanese actor Ethan Juan as a police detective in Taipei who suffers from amnesia during a crime investigation. As he is transferred to a rural police station, he must rely on his instincts to solve a kidnapping case involving the son of a prominent Japanese businessman. The film promises a fast-paced and outlandish adventure as Juan's character searches for the culprit.
Ethan Juan, known for his role in the successful Taiwanese film The Pig, The Snake And The Pigeon, is joined by a talented cast including Moon Lee, Hsieh Ying Xuan, Shinichi Tsutsumi, and Reika Kirishima. Arrested Memory is a collaboration between Taiwan's LHB Films and Japan's Fourier Films, showcasing Sabu's unique style of blending action and comedy in his films.
Sabu, the director, is recognized for his distinctive approach to storytelling, as seen in his previous works like Chasuke's Journey and Mr. Long. He describes life as absurd and often cruel, emphasizing the importance of love and humor in his films. Lucky Number's co-founder, Ola Byszuk, praises Sabu's ability to create entertaining and engaging narratives that transform ordinary characters into unlikely heroes within unpredictable stories.
In addition to Arrested Memory, Lucky Number will present a diverse lineup at the Cannes Film Festival, including Leila Marrakchi's Strawberries in Un Certain Regard, Christophe Dimitri Reveille's Che Guevara: The Last Companions in Special Screenings, and Dominga Sotomayor's La Perra and Jorge Thielen Armand's Death Has No Master in Directors' Fortnight. Cannes attendees can expect a mix of compelling and thought-provoking films from Lucky Number's selection.
