European Film Academy Chapter Principals: Advocates for Artistry and Collaboration

The European Film Academy has announced the appointment of its inaugural group of chapter principals representing various filmmaking disciplines. These chapters were established in 2025 to focus on casting directors, cinematographers, composers, costume designers, editors, makeup and hair artists, production designers, and sound designers. The chapter principals, selected by the European Film Academy Board, will serve as advocates and leaders in their respective fields, aiming to enhance connections among members and promote the artistry of European filmmaking.
The newly appointed chapter principals include casting director Nina Haun, cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema, composer Zbigniew Preisner, costume designer Pascaline Chavanne, editor Yorgos Mavropsaridis, makeup artist Waldemar Pokromski, production designer Antxón Gómez Santander, and sound designer Tarn Willers. Their role is voluntary and honorary, recognizing their exceptional contributions to the international film industry and their artistic achievements. The chapter principals will work towards fostering a sense of community among members and facilitating collaboration within the European film community.
Nina Haun, a casting director from Germany, has worked on acclaimed films such as "Fatherland" and "Silent Friend." Hoyte van Hoytema, a cinematographer from the Netherlands, is known for his collaborations with Christopher Nolan on films like "Interstellar" and "Dunkirk." Zbigniew Preisner, a Polish composer, is renowned for his work with directors like Krzysztof Kieślowski on projects such as "Dekalog" and "The Double Life of Véronique." Pascaline Chavanne, a Belgian costume designer, has collaborated with directors like Ozon and worked on films like "The Stranger."
Yorgos Mavropsaridis, a Greek editor, has edited numerous feature films, including works by Yorgos Lanthimos. Waldemar Pokromski, a Polish makeup artist, has contributed to award-winning films like "Schindler's List" and "The Pianist." Antxón Gómez Santander, a Spanish production designer, has worked extensively with Pedro Almodóvar and received accolades for his work on films like "Pain and Glory." Tarn Willers, a UK sound designer, has been recognized for his work on films like "The Zone of Interest" and "Fatherland."
