Robert Kirkman Critiques 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' and Shares Thoughts on Superhero Trilogies

Robert Kirkman, the creator of popular comics like "The Walking Dead" and "Invincible," recently shared his candid thoughts on what he considers to be the worst Spider-Man movie. During an episode of "The Escape Pod" podcast, Kirkman didn't hold back in expressing his disappointment with "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," calling it a mess despite acknowledging the talents of the cast.

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" has often been criticized for its overcrowded plot and attempts to set up a larger cinematic universe for the character. While the chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone received praise, the film's multiple villains and convoluted storyline failed to resonate with audiences. With a lackluster 51% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the film struggled to make a mark at the box office.

Despite his criticism of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," Kirkman is not averse to Spider-Man as a character. In fact, he has written a comic featuring Spider-Man and his own creation, Invincible. Kirkman also expressed his admiration for other Spider-Man films like "Into the Spider-Verse," showcasing his appreciation for different interpretations of the iconic superhero.

When asked about his favorite superhero trilogy, Kirkman hesitated to name the "Dark Knight" trilogy, citing his personal dislike for Batman. However, he expressed excitement for the upcoming "The Incredibles 3," hoping that it will surpass the lukewarm reception of its predecessor. With a fondness for the original "Incredibles" film, Kirkman is optimistic about the potential of a new favorite superhero trilogy in the making.
