Forever Season 2: New Cast Members and Plot Details Revealed

Production has commenced on the second season of Mara Brock Akil’s Forever on Netflix, with the addition of three new cast members. Malaika Guttoh has been cast as a series regular, while Avery Wills Jr. and Tre McBride will join as recurring guests. Guttoh will portray Ameena, Wills Jr. will play Jaden, and McBride will take on the role of Elijah.
The upcoming season will feature a time jump for Keisha Clark (Lovie Simone) and Justin Edwards (Michael Cooper Jr.), picking up four years later after the pandemic. The pair are doing well in new relationships, with real jobs and leading separate lives as adults until they unexpectedly reunite in the summer of 2023. The central question posed is whether exes can truly be friends.
Returning as series regulars are Karen Pittman, Wood Harris, and Xosha Roquemore, who play Justin’s parents Dawn and Eric, and Keisha’s mother Shelly, respectively. Mara Brock Akil serves as the showrunner, creator, and executive producer, with Regina King, Susie Fitzgerald, Reina King, and Erika Harrison also serving as executive producers.
Grammy-Award winner Khris Riddick-Tynes will join as the Executive Music Producer for Season 2, with Kier Lehman returning as Music Supervisor and Original Music by Until Tomorrow. The show is set in Los Angeles and will consist of eight episodes, offering a reimagining of the Young Adult novel by Judy Blume.
