Radu Jude's 'Love Diptych': A New Chapter in Cinematic Exploration

Radu Jude, known for his recent debut films in 2025 and the upcoming premiere of "Diary of a Chambermaid" at Cannes, is already gearing up for his next project. His new film, tentatively titled "Love Diptych," is set to start production next month, marking a departure from his previous focus on Romanian realities. Inspired by Roberto Rossellini's "L'amore," the film will feature two narratively separate but thematically related stories, or a diptych. Supported by Rodrigo Teixeira, the production will take place in the villages of Dârza and Sitaru over a 13-day period, with a planned premiere in early 2027, possibly at Berlinale or Rotterdam.
The cast of "Love Diptych" includes Oana Maria Zaharia, Nicoleta Hâncu, Endre Racz, and familiar faces like Șerban Pavlu and Gabriel Spahiu. Additionally, Lydia Lunch, Pierre Weiss, and Ilinca Manolache are expected to make special appearances in the film. Radu Jude's longtime collaborator, DP Marius Panduru, will be handling the cinematography, with editor Cătălin Cristuțiu and costume designer Cireșica Cuciuc also returning to work on the project.
With the production of "Love Diptych" underway, Radu Jude continues to push boundaries and explore new storytelling avenues. His dedication to creating thought-provoking cinema is evident in his choice of subject matter and the talented team he has assembled for this project. As fans eagerly await the premiere of his latest film, it's clear that Radu Jude's creative vision shows no signs of slowing down.
