Standoff at 7-Eleven on Columbia Pike: Police Negotiate with Wanted Suspect

Columbia Pike is currently closed off between S. Monroe Street and Glebe Road due to an ongoing standoff involving a wanted suspect. The incident began at the 7-Eleven store located at 3602 Columbia Pike, where a man wearing a high-visibility vest reportedly threatened individuals. Upon police arrival, the man brandished a knife, prompting officers to draw their firearms. The suspect then retreated into the store and has since refused to surrender. Police have deployed a negotiator, a K-9 unit, and drone operators to the scene, with the Pike being shut down in front of the store. The barricaded suspect, who is wanted by authorities, remains inside the convenience store as law enforcement officers work to safely apprehend him.
Arlington County police have confirmed that the suspect is still inside the store on 3600 Columbia Pike and efforts are ongoing to peacefully resolve the situation. All customers and staff have been safely evacuated from the premises. The police presence in the area is expected to continue as the situation unfolds.
