Maine Inmate Apprehended in New Hampshire After Absconding from Work Site

A Maine inmate who absconded from a Department of Corrections work site in Thomaston has been apprehended in New Hampshire with the assistance of the public. Brian Day, 45, had left the job site without authorization while being held at the Bolduc Correctional Facility in Warren. Authorities arrested Day and Candice Fisher, 45, in New Hampshire, where they were believed to be traveling together in a maroon 2011 Nissan Altima. Day had been serving a 3 1/2-year prison sentence for theft, forgery, and other crimes since October 2025. Despite having a community custody classification level, Day was working in the community during the day. Warrants had been issued for the arrests of Day and Fisher, and the Maine Department of Corrections expressed gratitude for the public's assistance and the efforts of law enforcement agencies in capturing the fugitives.
