David Maynard, a former member of the Stockport Schools Students’ Union, booked Bowie for a performance at the Poco A Poco Club in Heaton Chapel in 1970. The photo, which was found in Maynard's attic, shows Bowie in his stage outfit surrounded by seven students from the union, all in their final year.
The image, now digitally colored, captures a moment in Bowie's career when he was rising to fame with hits like "Space Oddity." Maynard had always suspected he had a photo from the event, and it resurfaced when he was clearing out his attic due to a water leak.
