Rebecca Yarros' book series kicked off with the release of the best-selling "Fourth Wing" in May 2023, followed by "Iron Flame" in November 2023 and "Onyx Storm" in January 2025. The upcoming fourth and fifth books in the series are yet to be named and dated. The announcement of the TV series was made by executive producer Michael B. Jordan during Amazon's upfront presentation at the Beacon Theatre.
The development of the "Fourth Wing" TV series began in October 2023 and gained momentum when showrunner Meredith Averill, known for her work on Netflix's "Locke & Key," joined the project last September. The team behind the adaptation includes Lisa Joy from HBO's "Westworld," who will direct the first episode, and a lineup of executive producers such as Elizabeth Raposo, Jonathan Nolan, and Athena Wickham of Kilter Films, among others.
