So You Think You Can Dance: The End of an Era - Fox Announces Show's Cancellation

Fox Television Network has announced that the popular dance competition show "So You Think You Can Dance" will not be returning for another season. The show, which has aired 18 seasons since its launch in 2005, faced various challenges and controversies in its later years. Despite discussions about the show's future, there are currently no plans to order another season.
Hosted by Cat Deely and featuring judges Allison Holker, JoJo Siwa, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy in its last season in spring 2024, "So You Think You Can Dance" had been a summer staple for Fox until 2019. The show took a two-year break during the COVID-19 pandemic and returned with a reimagined Season 17 in 2020, but faced issues with judges and production protocols.
The show's 18th season in 2024 saw further changes, with new judges and a documentary-style format chronicling the contestants' journey. Despite efforts to revitalize the series with dance challenges and a grand prize of $100,000, the decision has been made not to continue the show for another season.
Produced by Dick Clark Productions and Sony Pictures Television's 19 Entertainment, "So You Think You Can Dance" aimed to showcase the realities of a successful dance career through its weekly challenges. While the show had a significant impact on Fox's programming history, it will not be part of the network's upcoming 2026-2027 TV season lineup.
