The Enigmatic Disappearance of Jeremy Spencer: A Look into Fleetwood Mac's Turbulent Past

In early 1971, Fleetwood Mac, a band with Mick Fleetwood, Jeremy Spencer, John McVie, Christine McVie, and Danny Kirwan, faced a significant lineup change. During their U.S. tour, guitarist Spencer disappeared in Los Angeles, joining the controversial religious group Children of God and leaving the band behind. Despite efforts to find him, Spencer chose to serve Jesus and God with the organization, never returning to Fleetwood Mac.

Children of God, now known as The Family International, was labeled a cult by Attorney General Louis J. Lefkowitz in 1974. Former members have spoken out about the serious abuses they endured within the group, leading to convictions of some members for these crimes. Spencer remained connected to the organization, now The Family International, continuing his music and work with them.
