Vorteks Acquires Global Rights to Psychological Thriller 'Rain Catcher' Starring Dudley O'Shaughnessy

Vorteks, a genre label under the Dubai-based sales agency Cercamon, has acquired the global rights to Michele Fiascaris' psychological thriller "Rain Catcher," featuring UK actor Dudley O'Shaughnessy in his debut leading role. The film, currently in post-production, is an extension of Fiascaris' award-winning short film of the same name. Set in a rainy London, the story follows Miles, a photographer who becomes entangled in a mysterious and unsettling situation when a woman starts photographing him. As paranoia sets in, Miles embarks on a dark and obsessive journey to uncover the truth behind her motives.

The film was a finalist for the Netflix + Creative UK Breakout program and won the NAFF Award at the Sitges FanPitch in 2022. Produced by Yellow Pill Films and Featuristic Films, "Rain Catcher" brings together an international filmmaking team to create a British film with universal appeal. The cast includes Jessie Mei Li, Iris Law, Kate Dickie, Youssef Kerkour, and Lorenzo Richelmy, alongside O'Shaughnessy.

David Kwok, Partner of Acquisitions & Sales at Vorteks, expressed excitement about adding "Rain Catcher" to their lineup, praising the film's unique visuals and promising a mysterious and thrilling experience for audiences worldwide. Vorteks' Cannes slate also includes other notable titles like "Grind," "The Evil Inside," and "Ancestral Beasts," showcasing a diverse range of genres and storytelling styles.

Cercamon's Cannes slate features additional films such as "Petty Thieves" and the Chinese animation "Light Pillar," as well as the Sundance award-winner "Hold Onto Me." With a strong lineup of compelling and innovative films, Vorteks and Cercamon are poised to make a significant impact at the Cannes Film Festival and beyond.
