Bear McCreary Announces The Singularity: Ekleipsis - A Rock and Metal Odyssey
Renowned composer Bear McCreary has announced the upcoming release of The Singularity: Ekleipsis, the sequel to 2024's The Singularity, which delves into a world in chaos. The album, set to be released on July 31 through Sparks & Shadows Records and Mutant, is a collaborative effort between Bear and his brother Brendan, exploring themes of disillusionment and perseverance through struggle. The first single from the album, "Black Box," features Joe Duplantier from Gojira and the Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices choir, blending cinematic elements with distinctive vocals.
The Singularity project began in 2024 with a hard rock concept album of the same name, featuring guest appearances by notable rock artists like Serj Tankian and Corey Taylor. Ekleipsis continues this trend with a lineup of rock and metal luminaries such as Patrick Stump, Claudio Sanchez, and Steve Vai contributing to the album. An eight-date west coast North American tour is scheduled for September, showcasing the new material.
Bear McCreary's impressive career started under the mentorship of Elmer Bernstein and gained recognition with his work on Battlestar Galactica. He has received multiple Emmy and International Film Music Critics Association Awards for his compositions, including projects like The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. His scores for God of War games have also earned him BAFTA Awards and Grammy nominations.
