Studiocanal Acquires International Sales Rights for 4K Restoration of Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth

Studiocanal has acquired the international sales rights for the 4K restoration of Guillermo del Toro's iconic dark fantasy film, Pan's Labyrinth, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a special screening at Cannes Classics. Del Toro himself will be present at the event, marking two decades since the film's record-breaking premiere at Cannes.
The deal was negotiated by Studiocanal VP Falko Jahn with del Toro's Necropia, following the rights reverting back to the filmmaker. The 4K version of Pan's Labyrinth will have theatrical releases in the UK, France, Germany, Australia, and Benelux this autumn, with special 3D presentations planned. Additionally, premium UHD Collector's Editions will be rolled out in select markets.
Cineverse holds the North American rights to the film, with Mexican exhibitor Cinépolis leading the theatrical distribution in Mexico and Latin America. Pan's Labyrinth, which won three Oscars, is set in 1944 Francoist Spain and follows the story of a young girl who must complete three tasks to prove her royal lineage.
Studiocanal, known for its dedication to preserving classic cinema, is thrilled to collaborate with del Toro on the re-release of Pan's Labyrinth in their markets later this year. Del Toro himself praised Studiocanal's commitment to supporting legacy cinema, both in theaters and through physical media, highlighting the importance of bringing celebrated classics to audiences worldwide.
