Apple TV's Morgan Wandell Leaves to Launch Kismet: A New Chapter in Premium Scripted Series Production

Morgan Wandell, the Head of International Development at Apple TV, is leaving the company after almost ten years to focus on his new production company, Kismet. Based in Los Angeles, Kismet will develop and produce premium scripted series for the global market by nurturing culturally rooted storytelling projects and voices.

During his time at Apple TV, Wandell oversaw the creation of successful series like Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Tehran, Acapulco, Masters of the Air, Disclaimer, and The New Look. Following his departure, Matt Cherniss, Apple TV’s Head of Programming and Domestic Development, will take over the Monarch franchise and other series previously under Wandell’s purview.

Jay Hunt, Apple TV’s Creative Director, Europe, will expand her role to oversee international and local-language originals, including British series like Slow Horses and Hijack. Wandell is in talks with Apple to continue as a producer on some of the projects he initiated while at the company.

Wandell expressed gratitude for his time at Apple TV and the opportunity to work with exceptional creators worldwide. He described his decision to leave as a personal leap to build his own company and serve as an entrepreneur and producer in the premium series market for global audiences.

Before joining Apple, Wandell led drama development at Amazon Studios, overseeing successful series like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Goliath, and The Family Man. He also played a key role in series like Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, and Criminal Minds during his time at ABC Studios.
