A man from Florida recently won a $2 million prize playing the Double Diamond Cashword scratch-off game by the Florida Lottery. Walkens Talabert, 56, claimed his prize at the Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee and chose to receive a lump-sum payment of $1,189,600.00. The winning ticket was purchased at a Publix store in Boca Raton.

The Double Diamond Cashword game is a crossword-style scratch-off game with over $170.5 million in total cash prizes and approximately 7.2 million winning tickets. The odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 3.24, according to Florida Lottery officials. The Florida Lottery has paid out over $106.5 billion in prizes since its establishment in 1988 and has created 4,521 millionaires.

The Florida Lottery contributes 99 percent of its revenue back into the local economy through prize payouts, retailer commissions, and the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund. More than $50 billion has been contributed to Florida education, including support for the Bright Futures Scholarship Program, which has assisted over one million students in attending college.
