Jacksonville's Riverfront Music Garden: A Celebration of Music and Community
The City of Jacksonville is set to reveal the Riverfront Music Garden and officially reopen the Northbank Riverwalk at a ribbon-cutting event on May 13, 2026, at 11 a.m. The ceremony will take place at 300 Water Street and will feature Mayor Donna Deegan, city officials, and project stakeholders delivering speeches. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the new park and the renovated Riverwalk, which now links Riverside Arts Market to the Hyatt. The project includes a newly constructed bridge over McCoy’s Creek and the updated Corkscrew fitness area.
The Riverfront Music Garden pays tribute to Jacksonville’s musical legacy through interactive art installations, sculptural elements, musical play areas, and a Walk of Fame honoring local musicians and composers. The honorees include a diverse range of artists such as 38 Special, Ray Charles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and more. The selection of honorees was guided by a committee of local historians, musicians, authors, and industry professionals convened by the Downtown Investment Authority.
The development of the project was a collaborative effort involving the City of Jacksonville’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, Public Works, and the Downtown Investment Authority, along with design and construction partners like Halff, Urban Conga, Daily Tous Les Jours, and JB Coxwell. The revitalization of the Riverwalk and the addition of the Riverfront Music Garden aim to celebrate Jacksonville’s rich musical heritage and provide a vibrant public space for residents and visitors to enjoy.
In conclusion, the unveiling of the Riverfront Music Garden and the reopening of the Northbank Riverwalk mark significant milestones in Jacksonville’s efforts to enhance its public spaces and showcase its cultural heritage. The project brings together art, music, and recreation in a unique setting that reflects the city’s identity and invites the community to engage with its history and creativity.
