Rising Star: King Miller's Journey to USC Trojans' Running Back Success

The USC Trojans saw a rising star in King Miller during the 2025 season, showcasing his talent as a former walk-on player. Coach Lincoln Riley was impressed by Miller's speed and agility, leading to a surprising discovery about his ability to create long runs. Kendell Hollowell of USC Trojans on SI revealed that King tied for first in the Big Ten for runs of 40 yards or more.
Miller's standout performances included a 75-yard run against Missouri State and a 41-yard run against Georgia Southern. Despite facing limited carries in games against Purdue and Illinois, he broke out with a 47-yard run against Michigan, leading to his first 100-yard game. Miller continued to shine with a 55-yard run against Northwestern and a strong showing against UCLA.
As Miller enters a competitive running back room this season, he aims to solidify USC's backfield as one of the best in the Big Ten. Teaming up with Waymond Jordan last season, they combined for over 1,500 rushing yards under Riley's offense. With new talent like Deshonne Redeaux and Shahn Alston joining the team, Miller looks to lead the Trojans to success in the upcoming season.
