14-Year-Old Boy Facing Further Charges in Alleged School Shooting Plot: Updates on Rivers Collegiate Case
A 14-year-old boy in rural western Manitoba is facing further charges related to an alleged school shooting plot at Rivers Collegiate. The Blue Hills RCMP became aware of the situation in March after discovering online conversations between the boy and a 15-year-old from Nova Scotia discussing plans to harm students at the school. The 14-year-old was initially charged with uttering threats and has since had his phone and electronic devices analyzed, leading to additional charges being laid against him. Two guns owned by a relative were also seized during the investigation.
The teenager was re-arrested at the Manitoba Youth Centre in Winnipeg and charged with conspiracy to commit murder, counselling the offence of murder, and two more counts of uttering threats. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 4 to face these new charges. The RCMP and Crown prosecutors are continuing to investigate the case to ensure the safety of the community and prevent any potential harm.
