Important Service Updates: LIRR Delays, Cancellations, and Reroutes Due to Penn Station Smoke Conditions
LIRR passengers are advised to check their train schedules as several branches are facing delays, cancellations, and reroutes due to smoke conditions reported at Penn Station. A feeder cable fire occurred around noon on Thursday, according to FDNY officials. The Babylon and Huntington trains bound for Penn Station have been redirected to Grand Central, while the Ronkonkoma and Port Washington trains have been canceled. Delays are also affecting the Far Rockaway and Long Beach trains. Subway services are honoring LIRR tickets within the City Terminal Zone, including Penn Station, Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer on the E line, Grand Central on the 4, 5, 6, and 7 lines, and Woodside on the 7 line. Westbound trains to Penn Station will now terminate at Jamaica.
