Indonesian Sales Agent Afterlife International Makes Cannes Debut with Genre-Driven Films
Afterlife International, an Indonesian sales agent, is making its debut at Cannes with a lineup of genre-driven films, including the upcoming horror features Munafik and Delivery From Hell, as well as the highest-grossing Indonesian film, Agak Laen: Menyala Pantiku. The Jakarta-based company focuses on international sales, aiming to support local producers in reaching a global audience.
Founder Nadia Iswara highlighted the challenges faced by medium-to-small studios in managing both creative production and distribution. Afterlife International seeks to fill this gap by maximizing the global potential of Indonesian films and providing specialized support in international sales and distribution.
Among the films on their slate is Munafik, an Indonesian remake of a popular Malaysian horror film, which follows a healer caught in a supernatural case involving religious hypocrisy. Delivery From Hell, directed by Dinna Jasanti, tells the story of a mysterious package that triggers a series of deadly events. Both films are set for release in the fourth quarter.
In addition to these titles, Afterlife International has a lineup of 19 films, including the comedy Agak Laen: Menyala Pantiku, Indonesia's highest-grossing film, and the horror hit Alas Roban. The company's extensive library reflects the growing demand for specialized international sales support among local producers.
