Justice Served: Baltimore Resident Found Guilty in Morgan State University Mass Shooting Case

A Baltimore resident has been found guilty of five counts of attempted second-degree murder and other related offenses in connection with a mass shooting at Morgan State University during homecoming week. The shooting took place near the Murphy Fine Arts Center on October 3, 2023, as attendees were leaving the Mr. and Mrs. Morgan State homecoming coronation. Five individuals, aged 18 to 22, were injured, and windows were shattered by gunfire. In response to the incident, Morgan State University postponed all remaining homecoming events and implemented heightened security measures on campus. The suspect, Marquis Brown, was apprehended in Washington, D.C., shortly after the shooting, and another individual, Jovon Williams, was also arrested in connection with the crime. Brown could face a maximum sentence of 259 years in prison, as stated by Baltimore City State's Attorney Ivan Bates. The prosecution is dedicated to seeking justice for the victims, their families, and the Morgan State community, and will advocate for the harshest penalty possible to hold the defendant accountable for the harm and trauma caused by his violent actions.
