Arrest Made in Connection to Downtown Louisville Shooting Incident

An arrest has been made in connection to a non-fatal shooting that occurred in downtown Louisville last year. The incident took place on September 15, 2025, in the 800 block of South Fourth Street. The victim, identified as Jalen Brown, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the face, legs, shoulder, and hand and was treated at UofL Hospital. Marcus A. Dunning Jr., a 21-year-old resident of Louisville, was apprehended by detectives from the Violent Crime Unit on an arrest warrant related to the case. Dunning is accused of firing several shots from a handgun while inside a vehicle in a parking lot near South Fourth Street. Charges against him include first-degree assault, possession of marijuana, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance involving fentanyl. Additionally, he faces a probation violation in an unrelated case. During the investigation, law enforcement recovered suspected fentanyl, marijuana, and a Ruger handgun. Dunning is currently in custody at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections as the investigation continues.
