The City Section Baseball Playoffs saw some exciting matchups on Saturday. In the Division I quarterfinals, Sylmar defeated Chatsworth 4-3, while Verdugo Hills beat Sun Valley Poly 8-2. Venice narrowly edged out Palisades 7-6, and Taft dominated Cleveland with an 11-0 victory.
In Division II, Granada Hills Kennedy shut out Port of LA 6-0, LA Roosevelt defeated LA Wilson 6-2, South East triumphed over Torres 4-1, and Franklin outscored Sherman Oaks CES 10-4.
Moving on to Division III, LA Hamilton blanked Fairfax 7-0, Sotomayor edged out Sun Valley Magnet 4-3, Eagle Rock dominated Arleta 11-1, and Van Nuys shut out Fremont 11-0.
The upcoming semifinals on Tuesday will feature Granada Hills against LA Roosevelt, Franklin against South East, LA Hamilton against Sotomayor, and Eagle Rock against Van Nuys.
On Wednesday, the semifinals will take place at Cal State Northridge, with Granada Hills facing El Camino Real and Carson playing against Birmingham in the Open Division. In Division I, Taft will take on Venice, and Verdugo Hills will face Sylmar at Stengel Field.
The Open Division final is scheduled for May 23 at 1 p.m. at Dodger Stadium, the Division I final will be on May 23 at 10 a.m. at Dodger Stadium, the Division II final will be on May 22 at 5:30 p.m. at a TBD site, and the Division III final will be on May 22 at 2:30 p.m. at a TBD site.
