German Filmmakers Embrace Dogma: A New Wave of Cinematic Creativity

A group of renowned filmmakers in Germany, including Tom Tykwer, Nora Fingscheidt, Ilker Catak, Kurdwin Ayub, and Helene Hegemann, have joined forces to participate in a German version of the Dogma filmmaking initiative. This initiative, introduced at Cannes, will require each filmmaker to create a film adhering to the low-budget Dogma principles, which consist of 10 filmmaking rules. The German Dogma project is a collaboration between Tykwer's X Filme Creative Pool and X Verleih, Catak's if... Productions, Denmark's Zentropa, TrustNordisk, and the Moin Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein.

Recently, Netflix was revealed as a co-financing and distribution partner for all five Nordic Dogma 25 films, just three days before the announcement of the German Dogma programme. Isabella Eklof shared details about the first film titled "Mr. Nawashi" during the Five Nordics press conference. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting initiative.
