High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Crash: Ravenna Police Chase Results in Injuries and Arrest

Early Saturday morning, Ravenna Police Department officers engaged in a pursuit after a man fled from a traffic stop. The incident began when officers stopped a 2012 BMW SUV on S. Diamond Street for driving and equipment violations. The driver initially made contact with the officers but then fled from the stop. The pursuit ensued as the vehicle headed southbound on S. Diamond Street and turned east on Summit Road. The BMW continued south on S. Prospect Street before attempting to use the westbound ramp to I-76. However, the vehicle failed to negotiate the curve, resulting in it flipping several times and ejecting both the driver and passenger. Both individuals sustained injuries and were taken to University Hospitals, Portage Medical Center for treatment. The driver, identified as 33-year-old Sheldon Stone from Cleveland, had outstanding felony warrants in Cuyahoga County and is now facing multiple charges, including failure to comply.
