Columbus Crew Parts Ways with Head Coach Henrik Rydström: Interim Coach Named for Upcoming Matches

The Columbus Crew has made a significant change in its coaching staff by parting ways with head coach Henrik Rydström. The decision comes after a series of disappointing results in the MLS, leading to Rydström's departure. Laurent Cortois, the current first team assistant coach, will step in as the interim coach for the upcoming matches, including the US Open Cup quarterfinals against NYCFC. Rydström, who hails from Sweden, had previously coached Malmö FF and achieved success in the Swedish league before joining the Crew. The team's recent performance has placed them in 13th place in the Eastern Conference and 26th in the MLS Supporters' Shield standings. Along with Rydström, assistant coach Theodor Olsson and analyst Mak Pakhei have also left the club. The Crew is now on the lookout for a new head coach to lead the team to better results in the future.
