Director Raya Martin's Folkloric Horror Thriller 'Obosen' Takes Cannes by Storm

Director Raya Martin is making a comeback with his new feature film "Obosen," a folkloric horror thriller in development at Rein Entertainment. The story follows a policewoman investigating disappearances in a remote Philippine town and delves into local mythology, political dynasties, and a film shoot that lead to another reality. Producer Arleen Cuevas is bringing the project to Cannes Film Festival's Producer's Network as part of the Filipino delegation sponsored by the Film Development Council of the Philippines.

Martin, known for his bold and respected filmmaking, previously had two films selected at Cannes in 2009. Rein's head of creatives, Shugo Praico, expressed excitement about the partnership with Martin and the potential of "Obosen" to make a significant impact on contemporary Filipino cinema. The studio is also welcoming filmmaker-producer Quark Henares as a partner, who brings a wealth of experience from his time in Singapore and credits in producing acclaimed titles recognized at Sundance, the International Emmy Awards, and Venice.

Rein Entertainment, founded by Lino Cayetano, Shugo Praico, and Philip King, is known for its diverse slate of projects, including "Bagman," "BetCin," "Nanahimik Ang Gabi," and "Salvageland." The studio's upcoming limited series, "Drug War: A Conspiracy of Silence," produced in collaboration with KC Global Media, further showcases their commitment to creating compelling content for both local and global audiences. With the addition of Quark Henares as a partner, Rein Entertainment is poised to continue expanding and developing projects that resonate with viewers worldwide.
