IndyCar Qualifying Recap: Rosenqvist Leads the Pack, Chevrolet Dominates, and Surprises in the Grid

The IndyCar qualifying session took place on Sunday after being postponed due to rain on Saturday. Each driver had only one opportunity to set their best four-lap average, with the top 12 advancing to further rounds. Felix Rosenqvist set the fastest time with a four-lap average of 232.599 MPH, leading the pack going into the afternoon. Other notable drivers who advanced included David Malukas, Conor Daly, Scott McLaughlin, Rinus VeeKay, and Caio Collet. Chevrolet dominated the qualifying session, securing eight of the 12 available positions on the first four rows.

Some drivers, like Takuma Sato, missed the cut line by a narrow margin, while the Andretti Global trio struggled to find pace during their runs. Marcus Ericsson, Will Power, and Kyle Kirkwood secured starting positions in the middle of the grid. Ed Carpenter and Christian Rasmussen had close calls during their runs but managed to secure decent starting positions. Josef Newgarden, a two-time Indy 500 winner, will start from the 24th position and will have work to do in the race.

Dale Coyne Racing entries, Romain Grosjean and Dennis Hauger, were towards the bottom of the charts, while Katherine Legge secured the 27th position. Mick Schumacher, with a calm demeanor, secured the 28th starting position. Sting Ray Robb had the slowest time but is already locked into the race. The next rounds of qualifying will determine the pole position for the race.
