Iron Lung": Markiplier's Debut Film Set to Premiere on YouTube on May 31, 2026

"Iron Lung," the debut film directed by YouTuber Mark Fischbach, known as Markiplier, is set to be released for purchase exclusively on YouTube starting May 31, 2026. Fischbach shared this news during a panel at Cannes Film Festival, expressing his loyalty to YouTube as his platform of choice.
Based on the indie horror game by David Szymanski, "Iron Lung" takes place in a dystopian future where most of the human population has disappeared along with the stars and planets. Survivors live in manmade structures like spaceships and space stations. The story follows a convict named Simon, played by Fischbach, who embarks on a submarine journey through an ocean of human blood on a moon to uncover the mystery of the "Quiet Rapture." Fischbach was involved in various aspects of the film's production, including writing, producing, editing, and distribution.
Despite being made on a budget of $4 million, "Iron Lung" exceeded expectations by grossing over $50 million worldwide, largely due to Markiplier's dedicated fan base. Fischbach shared that he used the profits to provide each member of the cast and crew with a bonus matching their original salary. If you missed the opportunity to see "Iron Lung" in theaters, you can catch it on YouTube starting May 31.
