The Black Demon: Atlantis - Highland Film Group Secures Global Distribution Deals

Highland Film Group has revealed a series of agreements for the shark survival thriller film, The Black Demon: Atlantis, currently in production in Colombia. The movie features Jack Kesy and Julio César Cedillo in leading roles. Vertigo Releasing has secured the rights for the UK and Canada, while other territories like Germany, Australia/New Zealand, Scandinavia, Italy, Japan, and South Korea have also been covered by various distributors. Additional deals have been finalized in the Middle East, Taiwan, Portugal, Benelux, Poland, Turkey, South Africa, Indonesia, former Yugoslavia, Romania, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Czech Republic/Slovakia, and India. PictureWorks has obtained the airline rights for the film.
Carmen Cabana, known for her work on Rosario and Ms. Marvel, is directing this sequel to the 2023 theatrical release. The story revolves around a dangerous creature causing chaos in a Pacific Ocean maximum security prison, while an undercover agent investigates mysterious inmate deaths. The cast includes Harold Torres, Vanesa Restrepo, and Anthony Del Negro, with Aaron Benjamin, Boise Esquerra, and Cabana collaborating on the screenplay. The production is led by Javier Chapa for Mucho Mas Media, along with Arianne Fraser, Delphine Perrier, and Caleb Ward for Highland Film Group, which is co-financing the project.
The Black Demon: Atlantis has been granted the Colombian CINA incentive, providing a tax discount certificate for a portion of the in-country investment. The production service company, Jaguar Bite, is involved in the filming process. The film promises to deliver an intense and thrilling experience for audiences worldwide.
