El Paso Police Arrest Driver Involved in Drug Trafficking Incident

A recent incident in El Paso resulted in the arrest of a driver who attempted to flee from officers during a traffic stop. The incident occurred early Saturday morning when officers observed a vehicle with a couple arguing near 6100 Alameda. Upon approaching the vehicle, a woman quickly left the scene, leaving the driver, identified as 30-year-old Bryan Delara, behind. Delara, who is homeless, then attempted to evade the officers by reversing the vehicle, leading to a traffic violation in their presence.
Despite officers' attempts to conduct a traffic stop, Delara refused to comply and threw a large plastic bag out of the vehicle. The driver eventually stopped at the intersection of Alameda and Clark, where police recovered the plastic bag containing 74 individually wrapped baggies of cocaine. Delara was subsequently arrested and taken to the El Paso County Detention Facility, where he faced charges related to the possession and distribution of a controlled substance, as well as evading arrest with a vehicle.
