Marvel Announces Brad Winderbaum as Head of Television, Animation, Comics & Franchise

Marvel has appointed Brad Winderbaum as the new Head of Marvel Television, Animation, Comics & Franchise. Winderbaum, who currently oversees television and animation at Marvel Studios, will now lead the creative direction of Marvel's publishing portfolio and global brand. Joining Marvel from Disney, David Abdo will serve as General Manager, Comics & Franchise under Winderbaum's leadership. Dan Buckley, who has been with Marvel for nearly 30 years, will be departing but will support the transition until mid-2027.
Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, expressed confidence in Winderbaum and Abdo's abilities to shape Marvel's comic book legacy for the future. Winderbaum, an Emmy Award-winning executive, has been instrumental in producing Marvel Studios shows for Disney+, while Abdo brings a wealth of experience in operations and digital innovation. C.B. Cebulski, Marvel Comics' Editor-in-Chief, will now report to Winderbaum.
David Abdo, with over 20 years of leadership experience in media businesses, was previously the General Manager of Disney Music Group, where he oversaw significant growth in revenue and resources. Feige acknowledged Dan Buckley's contributions to Marvel's expansion into various media, including events like Civil War and X-Men: Age of Krakoa. Buckley's departure marks the end of an era, but his support during the transition is appreciated by Marvel.
