Stargazer Alliance: A Tribute to Ronnie James Dio in Stockholm, Sweden

A group of over 20 musicians, including Björn Strid, Dino "Jelusick" Jelusić, Mats Levén, Pontus Egberg, Joakim Svalberg, Linnea Wikström Egg, and Kee Marcello, participated in the 2026 "Stargazer Alliance" memorial concert for Ronnie James Dio in Stockholm, Sweden. The event, held at Bibliotek Bar & Restaurang, was a charity fundraiser for the Cancerfonden, featuring performances of Dio's classic hits from RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH, and DIO. Ronnie James Dio, a legendary vocalist known for his work with various bands, passed away from stomach cancer in 2010 at the age of 67.
Dio, a prominent figure in heavy metal history, was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2009 and underwent treatment before his death. Following his passing, a public memorial service was held in Los Angeles, attended by fans, friends, and fellow musicians. In the years that followed, the surviving members of DIO formed a project called DIO DISCIPLES with former JUDAS PRIEST frontman Tim "Ripper" Owens. Dio's musical journey began in New Hampshire, where he started playing with local bands before joining RAINBOW and later BLACK SABBATH.
Throughout his career, Dio released numerous albums with RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH, and his own band DIO, earning recognition for his powerful vocals and contributions to the metal genre. He was also involved in charitable efforts, such as the HEAR N' AID project, which raised funds for African famine relief. Following his death, musicians like Corey Taylor, Michael Anthony, and Slash paid tribute to Dio, highlighting his influence and impact on the rock and metal music scene. Dio's legacy continues to resonate with fans and fellow artists, honoring his enduring contributions to the genre.
