The Troubadour: A Tribute to George Strait at Moody Center

The Moody Center recently unveiled a new backstage lounge named "The Troubadour" in honor of George Strait, a legendary Texas musician. The lounge pays tribute to Strait's iconic music and his status as a prominent figure in the music industry. It features elements reminiscent of a classic Texas honky-tonk, such as a vintage jukebox with his songs, a burnt orange pool table, a restored neon sign, and roadhouse decorations. Additionally, the lounge showcases a bronze plaque with Strait's boot prints embedded in the floor.
Recognizing George Strait's significant impact on music and his connection to the arena, Moody Center celebrated his legacy by dedicating The Troubadour to him. Strait performed at the arena's grand opening in April 2022 and returned for a sold-out series of shows that drew over 60,000 fans. The dedication ceremony included a toast with Codigo tequila shots and was attended by Strait, his family, friends, Moody Center executives, and representatives from Messina Touring Group (MTG).
Jeff Nickler, President of Oak View Group Austin and General Manager of the arena, emphasized that The Troubadour is more than just a spaceāit is a lasting tribute to an artist who has played a significant role in shaping the Moody Center. George Strait expressed his gratitude for the thoughtful dedication, acknowledging the importance of honoring the music, memories, and fans that have been integral to his career. Louis Messina, from Messina Touring Group, commended Moody Center for recognizing George Strait's unique contributions with the creation of the lounge.
In conclusion, The Troubadour at Moody Center stands as a testament to George Strait's enduring legacy and influence in the music industry. The lounge serves as a fitting tribute to the King of Country and his remarkable career, providing a space where artists and industry professionals can experience the essence of his music and presence for years to come.
