Oil Spill Cleanup Underway at Ala Wai Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii

The U.S. Coast Guard is currently addressing an oil spill at Ala Wai Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, in collaboration with local authorities. Pollution responders from Pacific Environmental Corporation (PENCO) are actively working to recover red-dye diesel from the water. They have deployed sorbent pads and sweep materials to contain the spill and retrieve the diesel. The exact amount and source of the spill are still unknown and are currently being investigated.
Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries or impacts on wildlife as a result of the spill. The Coast Guard Sector Honolulu command center received a report of the diesel fuel spill near the harbor docks on Sunday evening.
