Handler criticized Gillis and Hinchcliffe's jokes during the roast, particularly highlighting Gillis' joke about lynching and Hinchcliffe's insensitive remarks about Sheryl Underwood's late husband's suicide. She emphasized that jokes about lynching and making fun of someone's tragic loss are not humorous and are highly inappropriate.
In response to Handler's comments, Gillis shared a statement expressing his indifference and promoting his upcoming show. Handler also called out Hinchcliffe's joke referencing George Floyd, which received widespread criticism for its insensitivity. Despite reaching out for comment, representatives for Hinchcliffe did not respond.
