Download Festival Travel Advisory: East Midlands Railway Service Changes and Important Reminders

If you are heading to this year's Download Festival, it is essential to plan your journey ahead of time and avoid bringing alcohol on board. East Midlands Railway has issued a warning about potential rail disruptions during the festival weekend (June 10-14) due to engineering works on the Midland Main Line. Services to and from London St Pancras International will be affected, with some routes operating fewer trains and replacement buses running on certain sections of the line.

Throughout the weekend, there will be a reduced service, including one train per hour between Nottingham and London, as well as between Sheffield and London. Some stations, such as Market Harborough, will not have train services. Passengers are advised to travel light and not bring wheelie bins filled with beer cans or bottles, as these items are not allowed on board.

Philippa Cresswell, Customer Experience Director at East Midlands Railway, emphasized the importance of planning ahead and being aware of the service changes due to the engineering works. Customers should check for updates before traveling and allocate extra time for their journey. It is also crucial to travel with luggage that can be comfortably carried, as bringing large containers or trolleys is not safe or permitted on train services.

East Midlands Railway staff will be available at stations to assist customers and ensure a smooth journey without the need for wheelie bins or festival trolleys. For more information on travel arrangements, passengers can visit the EMR website. Remember to check your journey details and travel responsibly to the Download Festival this year.
